About the project

We start this material for International Higher School of Informatics and Electronic Leadership "Mahatma Gandhi" от позициите на хора, работили в едно индустриално и техническо общество, както и като преподаватели в много учебни заведения, курсове, семинари и международни симпозиуми.

The project is developed in accordance with the requirements of the Higher Education Act and the criteria of the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (NEAA). The goal of creating Mahatma Gandhi is to provide innovative educational services to attract young people who are proactive and prosperous to develop and who in the future can find their qualifications and practical skills. Innovations in educational services, especially in higher education, are very important for attracting and incorporating skilled IT specialists.

During the elaboration of the project idea, the analyzes and studies on the need of highly qualified specialists in the field of informatics and computer sciences on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria and in particular Plovdiv Region were evaluated.

Plovdiv Region and the South Central Region are rated by the Ministry of Education and Science as the most intensive in the field of information technologies, for which the need for qualified specialists significantly exceeds the capacity of the existing higher education institutions.

There are specialties and courses, which are to a certain extent covered by the traditionally presented in the rating system of the higher schools. This is due to the need to acquire fundamental and systematic knowledge in the professional field. On the other hand, the offered majors and courses are related to the leading strategic needs of the highly qualified labor market and the requirements of employers in the medium and long term.

Continuing training and improving the qualification of specialists is a process of updating the acquired knowledge in accordance with the advanced labor market requirements and the achievements of science in the field of information technologies. This process emphasizes the activity of the higher education institution, while the majority of higher education institutions today ignore the development and updating of the acquired knowledge but focus on the career development of students and specialists (so called Alumni).

A particular emphasis is the education of the students and specialists trained in the basic principles and rules of conduct on the Internet. The digital culture of communicating and sharing knowledge is essential for system training in the particular subject.

In the activities of the future Higher School special attention is paid to people with special educational needs. This emphasis on activity is particularly important given the neglect of this social group by other higher education institutions.
